New York Fashion week is here y'all!!
It's the 2 times of year I work like an investment banker… lots of models (not the excel kind) and bottles (of diet coke).
Can't wait to see the collections 🙂
Yes, yes I know that I am always running around and a crazy person during fashion week (and sometimes during not-fashion-week) But this photo by my amazing photographer friend has brought back memories. And now I want to see pretty clothing on the runway and designers yelling at makeup artists and models pretending to eat backstage.
And I’m obviously texting Anna Wintour. Duh.

Had a great time with one of my fave designers, Walter Baker, last night.
I cover his collection every season during fashion week – and everyone knows his show is always a party – but the clothes are also lovely.

I didn’t know much about Tiki Barber when I ran into him at the Walter presentation on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel, other than that he was a NY Giant and that he was obviously a fashionisto.

Fashion week and fashion reports are finally over so I have some time to breathe
One of the major highlights of the week was getting to reconnect with fashion friends who i only get to see twice a year.
I also spent my time not just covering the shows but working on a 2 year retrospective of Alexander McQueen’s death in time for the first ever runway show of McQ – his diffusion line.
Fashion community still really misses McQueen, but I agree with everyone: Sarah Burton is doing an amazing job.

I am having quite a ball, despite the fact that there is just so much to do.
Mixed prints are everywhere, much like they were during the Sept fashion week. I appreciate all those fashionistas who can do it well, because I know its tough!
But I would like to implore some of the burgeoning fashionistas ive been seeing at Fash Wk: If you do NOT know how to do it, please dont. It takes a very specific aesthetic skill and if you dont have it you are hurting all our eyes!!!
Lace is so hot right now. I cant wait to get some lace leggings. I want them in electric blue. If you know of anyone who makes them, please let me know!
Other than that, the collections this season are fun.
Zang Toi’s show closed to a standing ovation. First one i saw of the season. Congrats Zang! Not only is he a great designer but just a wonderful and warm person. Cant wait to see some of the designs on the red carpet.

Not much time to post, but I’ll give you some highlights.
Went to Max Azria’s private dinner last night. Happens every season and never disappoints. Solange Knowles came by and BOY is she gorgeous.
Trendcasting:
lots of lace. Rebecca Taylor . Monique Lhuillier . Tadashi Shoji all showing tons of lace. lace leggings by RT i just LOVED.
lots of leather.
lots of sheer over solid.
lemon yellow.
I also cant wait to get me some of those equestrian-inspired boots that they were showing at the Herve show.
Monique’s leather belts with the dip in the front were super flattering for the female figure, so will be buying one of those as well.
